This week at OCHS...
Attention Class of 2025!
Heads up! This will be available to you next year, 2024-2025. The recipient will be awarded in 2025.
This is Full Scholarship to UK.
A few details about about the Scholarship:
My name is Mary Jo Peed. I represent the family of Marcella Whisman Peed. An endowed scholarship exists at Owen County High School in my mother’s name. Jack Spurgeon, a 2021 graduate, was the first recipient of the scholarship and will be a junior at University of Kentucky in the fall. The next recipient will be a 2025 graduate of OCHS.
I am writing to you now in hopes of reestablishing a connection with you and to make sure that the staff and the juniors of Owen County High School are well aware of the existence of this full scholarship to University of Kentucky. It is my hope that the University has as many OCHS students applying as possible in 2025. I know that it seems early to start thinking about the scholarship’s next recipient but, want to ensure that juniors are all fully aware of and will compete for this important opportunity is important to the success of the scholarship.
The Marcella Whisman Peed Scholarship is an exciting opportunity for a OCHS graduate. Due to her family’s financial situation my mother did not have the opportunity to attend university. She had a terrific life, full of experiences and opportunities to learn after attending secretarial school in Louisville but she would have loved to have had the benefits and experiences of a university degree.
That desire is why my dad established the scholarship in her name.
**Updates will be sent out as received**
